Courses
We offer a series of online and in-person courses through the year, on themes related to research, activism, performance and theatre. These courses are each designed with a range of different participants in mind – some are designed for early- to mid-career academics and researchers, some for post-graduate students, and of course for art practitioners, community-led practitioners and people interested in arts, film, writing, storytelling and knowledge in general.
Our Approach
In a time where our interactions with the world are increasingly determined by algorithms, where Youtube videos displace pedagogy and our grandmothers as primary sources of recipes, RAPT prioritises personalised engagement. This is why we choose to run our courses with small cohorts, with collective dialogue and ample opportunity for one-on-one attention. We seek to bring a diverse set of experiences and approaches into the room, both in terms of faculty and participants. We do not simply 'instruct', but rather think, experiment, and play together.
Our courses typically run over a period of 8 weeks, and bring together lectures with practical exercises and playfulness, and hands-on engagement with methods. This of course varies form course to course, with some courses being more oriented towards training in particular methods, and some towards theory and abstraction. Each week features a three hour session, a reasonable reading load, and engagement with art, films, experiments and explorations. The format is flexible so that both those who do not always have the time to engage deeply with readings etc. and those who dive deep, might gain from the sessions.
Fee Structure
RAPT works on a sliding scale model, with a fee structure that differentiates between those with and without institutional support, between students, faculty and independent researchers, and accounts for the differences in currency value. This allows us to offer fee waivers and scholarships to those who might need them. As each course requires different resources, the exact fee structure is set course by course, details of which are available on the relevant course pages.
